still, he appears determined to strengthen a partnership. president obama spent part of his first full day in china reaching out to the country's future. >> and i believe strongly that cooperation must go beyond our government. it must be rooted in our people. >> reporter: at a town hall style meeting in shanghai, he told university students that a partnership between the u.s. and china is essential to solving key global problems. >> it's a terrific opportunity for us to learn from each other. >> reporter: the president also brought up the touch which i subject of human rights for which chi made is widely criticized. he said the u.s. isn't trying to impose its i'd yol xwi on the country, but that certain rights have no boundaries. gr we believe our universal rights should be available to all people includinging ethnic and religious minorities whether they are in the united states, china or any nation. >> reporter: later in beijing, the president will meet with hu jintao. several issues are on the agenda, but one of the biggest will be trade. the president wants china to

state no longer wanted it. for two years now, harden has been stuck with a white elephant. prison jump suits never worn. the kitchen has never made a meal. the entire place is filled with an eerie silence. >> we've been sitting empty so long, we have to take a shot at everything. we have to look at everything to get this facility filled. >> reporter: so they look south, all the way it cuba, towards some of america's most problem hat tick prisoners. >> a second decision that i made was to order the closing of the press on that camp at guantanamo bay. >> reporter: but the president has yet to decide where "the quan" tan mow detainees will go. the folks in harden say bring them on. >> if the president says, you know, we're going to bring them on american soil, why not harden, montana. >> reporter: the city council unanimously backed the idea and some in town figured big sky country was just where these inmates belonged. >> forget the waterboarding and these guys will probably be coughing up you will all the information you want.

here's a look at the weather in some cities around the country. new york, mostly sunny, 58. miami, 81. chicago, periods of rain, 47. denver, 39. los angeles, sunny and 67. and time for a check on the national forecast. the latest satellite picture shows overcast skies over the hid west and northwest coastline, but it's a clear morning just about everywhere else. later today, most of the east enjoys some well deserved sunshine while the med west will see rain. it will also be sunny and pleasantly warm throughout the southwest.
